Welcome to the Ebenezer Society Community 20 Youth Development Ministries At Ebenezer, we believe that the youth are not just the future of the church, but an integral part of our vibrant community today. Our Youth Ministry is dedicated to providing a welcoming and nurturing environment where young people can grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and make a positive impact in the world around them.
Our Youth Ministry is committed to guiding young people on their journey of faith, equipping them with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Through engaging programs, dynamic events, and opportunities for service and leadership, we aim to empower youth to live out their faith boldly and authentically.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Youth Development Ministries of the Board of Education and Youth of the Methodist Church Ghana, exist to bring every young person in the Church to a full realization of the need to be an avowed disciple of Christ Jesus; called to active ministry of the church. That by word and deed the young people should proclaim the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit
That through training, the division shall seek to help every young person to attain fullness of life in spirit, mind and body and equip each person to become an active member of the church ready to assume any leadership position both in the church and society.
The ministry shall ensure that the affairs of the young people are ever kept before the whole church and that they are constantly brought into the fellowship of God’s people, empowering them through worship, Bible study, prayer, caring and counseling so that in community of faith they would stand out as worthy ambassadors of Christ our Lord and the Methodist Church Ghana.
The ministry would also strive to be the voice of the voiceless and the vulnerable in the society. To this end Youth Development Ministries would work in partnership with the state and para-church youth groups/organizations to press for the eradication of all forms of discrimination, social injustice and stigmatization against the youth in the society. The division shall work to create opportunities for easy access to education, health, shelter and employment for the attainment of the holistic development of the young person.
DEFINITION AND CLASSIFICATION OF THE YOUTH
The term Youth refers to all persons in the Methodist Church Ghana aged 12 to 35 years irrespective of the organizations they belong to. Young people are whole persons with needs and concerns peculiar to their age which must be approached in a special way different from that used for adults. Their developmental needs and capabilities also defy putting them together with older people for the purposes of learning and for effective fellowship. Again, a wide age-bracket may impede the teaching-learning process and will fail to harness the potential talents of the younger age, and will lead to lack of leadership opportunities for the youth. Consequently their interest in the organization may wane and their love for the church will grow cold. It is therefore imperative to categorize people according to their age groupings as well as their physiological and developmental needs.
For the purposes of good and effective programming and the teaching-learning process, the following sections shall be maintained.
12 – 17 years – Teenagers
18 – 24 years – Mid Youth
25 – 35 years – Young Adults
ORGANIZATIONS
The following shall constitute the organizations in the Youth Ministry:
- The Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF)
- The Methodist Girls’ Fellowship (MGF)
- The Association of Methodist Brigades (BB/GB)
- The Ghana Methodist Students’ Union (GHAMSU)
